Morning Briefing – 6:30 AM
The sun hasn’t fully risen as I pull into the service technician parking lot. With my travel mug of coffee in hand, I join my colleagues at A-All Temp Heating & Cooling for our morning dispatch meeting. We review the day’s service calls, discuss parts inventory, and check weather forecasts – crucial information when you’re in the HVAC business.
First Service Call – 8:00 AM
After loading my service van with necessary supplies, I head to my first appointment. Today starts with a routine maintenance check on a residential AC unit. These preventative services are vital in keeping systems running efficiently and preventing unexpected breakdowns.
Mid-Day Tasks
By lunch, I’ve completed:
• Two maintenance inspections
• One filter replacement
• A diagnostic check on a struggling cooling system
Afternoon Challenge – 2:00 PM
The afternoon brings an emergency call – a commercial building’s AC system has stopped working. These situations require quick thinking and efficient problem-solving. It’s rewarding when we can restore comfort to our customers’ environments.
Wrapping Up – 5:30 PM
Before heading home, I:
• Complete service documentation
• Restock my van for tomorrow
• Touch base with dispatch about tomorrow’s schedule
Working in HVAC means no two days are exactly alike. Whether it’s maintaining heating systems in winter or cooling units in summer, each day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable.
Professional Pride
What I love most about this job is knowing that our work makes a real difference in people’s daily lives. From ensuring businesses can operate comfortably to helping families stay cozy in their homes, being an HVAC technician is both challenging and rewarding.
The satisfaction of solving problems and the gratitude from customers make every early morning worth it. As I head home, I’m already looking forward to what tomorrow will bring in the world of heating and cooling services.
